How do I descale my coffee machine?

My coffee machine is not heating up

Ensure your Bialetti coffee machine is plugged in at the wall, the mains switch is turned on and the machine itself is switched on. If you are still experiencing problems with this, please contact our team on hello@brewitalia.com. 

No coffee is coming out of my machine

Your coffee capsule may be stuck or badly positioned. Unplug the machine from the power mains and wait for it to cool down; lift the lever and remove the capsule manually. Use a tool, never use your fingers.

A capsule may have fallen into the machine. Take out the capsule compartment and check that it is empty.

There is no water in the tank. Fill the tank with cold filtered water and try again.

The pipes are clogged with scale. Carry out a scale removal cycle.

The coffee coming out of my machine is cold

The machine has not completely heated the water before pouring the coffee. Before dispensing the coffee, always await the green lights of the dispensing buttons are on.

The machine is partly clogged by scale. Carry out a scale removal cycle.

The machine lever is stuck and won't go down

The capsule is stuck or badly positioned. Unplug your coffee machine from the power mains and wait for it to cool down; lift the lever and remove the coffee capsule manually. Use a tool, never use your fingers.

The compartment of used capsules is full. Empty the compartment. The Gioia capsules are aluminium and can be recycled.

My coffee machine is making too much noise

There is no water in the tank. Fill the tank with cold filtered water and try again.

The machine is not stable on the support surface. Make sure it is positioned on a flat and rigid surface.  

The capsule falls from it's compartment

The lever is not completely raised. Completely lower the lever and open it until it gets to its end point.

The machine does is not dispensing and both lights of the pour push buttons (5-6) blink quickly in red

There is a plastic capsule or the capsule seat is empty. Remove the plastic capsule and insert a Bialetti aluminium capsule. To clean the machine, start a cleaning cycle as previously described. Make sure no capsule has been inserted during this operation.
